Short version: We collect nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no network requests, no tracking. All data lives on your device.
Capitol Lens is a transparency tool that helps you track the public record of your elected representatives. We built it with a simple principle: your data stays on your device.
Nothing. We do not collect, transmit, store, or share any personal data.
Capitol Lens does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information. Open it and go.
All congressional data — member records, votes, bills, stock trade disclosures, ideology scores — is bundled directly in the app as a local SQLite database. The app makes no network requests at runtime. There is no server, no API call, no cloud sync.
Data is sourced from public government records:
This data is compiled at build time and shipped with the app. It does not update dynamically.
When you select your state and representatives during onboarding, those preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS's standard UserDefaults. They never leave your device.
We do not use any analytics tools, crash reporting services, or behavioral tracking. We have no idea how you use the app, and we prefer it that way.
There are no ads in this app. We do not work with ad networks or data brokers.
We do not track you across apps or websites. There are no third-party SDKs in this app that perform tracking.
This app does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
If we ever change this policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date above and release a new version of the app. Because we collect no data, most changes would reflect new features — not new data practices.
